William "Bill" Hinnant (August 28, 1935 – February 17, 1978) was an American actor who originated the role of Snoopy in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Biography[]
William Hinnant was born in Chincoteague Island, Virginia, in 1935, his birth name being John F. Hinnant. In 1940, his brother Skip Hinnant was born.
He attended Yale School of Drama, and dropped out in Sophomore year to perform in No Time for Sergeants. He later returned, and graduated in 1959. His biggest role came in 1967, when he originated the role of Snoopy in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown reprising his role as Snoopy from the original concept album. He returned to the role in the 1973 live recording of the musical.
He died in 1978, having drowned while on vacation.
