A coconut is a tropical fruit, grown on palm trees. The inside of the coconut contains liquid and flesh, both of which are safe for human consumption. The flesh, when dried and shredded, is often used as an ingredient or topping for various confections.
Charles M. Schulz first tried coconut as a child, and was so disgusted by it he vowed never to eat it again. Schulz's dislike carried over to both his children and the Peanuts universe, with various characters expressing their dislike of coconut since the strip's inception, to the point that it has become a running gag over the years.[1]
