The Disney Channel is a cable network owned by The Walt Disney Company. Its began broadcasting on April 18, 1983, as a 16-hour-a-day pay cable channel. It soon changed to a 24-hour-a-day channel in 1986, and in April 1997 became a basic cable channel.
The animated Peanuts specials, including episodes of This Is America, Charlie Brown and The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show, were broadcast on the Disney Channel from October 1993 to late-summer 1997, after which the broadcast rights were transferred to Viacom's Nickelodeon.
