José Peterson is a minor male character in the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz who first appeared on March 20, 1967. His last appearance in the comic strip was on September 24, 1969. He is on Peppermint Patty's baseball team.
Peppermint Patty and José Peterson join Charlie Brown's baseball team in the March 21, 1967 strip but leave to start their own team six days later, telling Charlie Brown he should take up shuffleboard.
José Peterson also makes a silent cameo in The Peanuts Movie.
In Peanuts Jubilee Schulz stated that he had a dream one night of having a half-Mexican, half-Swedish boy in the strip.
José Peterson was introduced into Snoopy's Town Tale in January 2021 as part of the Winter Games event. He returned in October 2024 as part of the Costume Parade event.
José Peterson makes a silent cameo appearance in The Snoopy Show and in the TV specials Snoopy Presents: For Auld Lang Syne, Snoopy Presents: It's the Small Things, Charlie Brown, Snoopy Presents: Lucy's School, Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie, and Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin, voiced by Jacob Mazeral.
