"Mr. Spaceman" is Charlie Brown disguised as a Martian in a storyline of the March-April 1955 comic strips.
In the strip of 28 February, 1955, Patty blames Charlie Brown for never being anything but "Good ol' Charlie Brown", which upsets him. But the next day, he wears a transparent helmet and presents himself as a man from outer space. "Mr. Spaceman" is the nickname Lucy gives him in the following period.
The home planet of Mr. Spaceman is Mars, which, believed by himself, can only be seen at night on Earth. He claims he reached Earth by jumping, but was misunderstood by Lucy as being reached by foot. When he replies to questions from his friends, he answers either in English or in an unknown language that Lucy seems to understand.
Unlike in many other depictions of Martians, Mr. Spaceman expresses kindness to his peers. He also believes Earth girls are very beautiful. Despite this, they tease him for his helmet and his round head. When Snoopy imagines himself as a space man, too, he takes off his helmet.
On April 1, 1955. Charlie Brown tells Lucy that Mr. Spaceman was just an April Fools' joke. Lucy explains that she recognized him much earlier and lists a series of specific features of his appearance one by one, which causes the boy to be annoyed.
