Pawpet Theater

Charlie Brown and Violet Gray watch Snoopy perform Pawpet Theater in the strip from April 28, 1974.

Pawpet Theater is the name used for a number of puppet plays performed by Snoopy atop his doghouse in several Peanuts comic strips which were first published in the 1970s and 1980s. The idea was introduced to the strip in March 1974, the first such performance being in the Sunday strip from March 17 of that year and the word "Pawpet" appearing for the first time a week later, on March 24, 1974.

In addition to selling tickets and acting as an usher, Snoopy performs all of the roles with puppets on multiple paws.

Plays performed by Snoopy include Beau Geste, Ben Hur, War and Peace, Gone With the Wind and Citizen Beagle.

Audience members in the various comic strips include Woodstock, Charlie Brown, Sally Brown, Lucy van Pelt, Linus van Pelt and Violet Gray.

Snoopy also uses puppets and puts on a performance which Lucy watches and which Charlie Brown narrates in the 1975 TV special Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown.
