Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie is the fiftieth Peanuts TV special based on the comic strip by Charles M. Schulz. It was released on August 18, 2023 on Apple TV+, one year after the previous special. It is centered around Marcie.

Synopsis

One-of-a-Kind Marcie follows Marcie, an introvert who loves her solitude but also enjoys helping her friends. As they train for the school golf championship, Marcie assists Peppermint Patty as her caddie, offering thoughtful and deliberate advice to help her win. Meanwhile, after coming up with brilliant solutions to her classmates' problems — from hallway traffic jams to lunchtime pizza shortages — Marcie is unexpectedly elected as class president… a role she never wanted. Suddenly thrust into the spotlight, Marcie struggles to cope with the expectations of her new job and retreats as far from the public eye as possible. As the golf championship begins, Marcie is still in hiding and Peppermint Patty is forced to tee off with Charlie Brown filling in as her caddie. But after some wise advice and a little introspection, Marcie realizes she can still make a difference for her friends and the school — she will just have to buck other people's expectations and do it her own unique way.

Voice cast

Schroeder, Naomi, Lila, Loretta, Peggy Jean, "Badcall" Benny, Eudora, Lydia, Maynard, 3 and 4, 5, Emily, Shirley, Sophie, Ethan, Poochie, Royanne and Joe Agate all appear but are silent. It is unknown who voiced the brunette Emily and Austin.

Trivia

  • This is the first Peanuts TV special where Poochie, Emily, Royanne and "Crybaby" Boobie appear. It is also one of the only TV specials in which Sally is absent, the others being He's Your Dog, Charlie Brown, What a Nightmare, Charlie Brown, and It's the Girl in the Red Truck, Charlie Brown.
  • This is the first Peanuts TV special to have a TV special exclusive character (being Carlin) introduced after Schulz's death in 2000, and the first since It Was My Best Birthday Ever, Charlie Brown in 1997 with Mimi.
  • The writers for this special approached Marcie's characterization with the idea of her being neurodivergent, with cognitive scientist Scott Barry Kaufman serving as a consultant.[1] While Marcie being neurodivergent or autistic has been a popular theory among readers of the strip, the special's depiction of this manifesting as introversion/shyness is inconsistent with her portrayal in Peanuts media up to now: though undoubtedly socially awkward and prone to misunderstanding instructions (such as her confusion over Easter eggs in It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown), she is frequently shown to be outspoken and brave when the situation calls for it, such as when she punched Thibault in an August 1973 storyline.
  • This special won the award for Best Special Production for the 51st Annie Awards.
  • This special was nominated for Best Animated Program or Series and Best Sound (Animation) for the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards.
  • This special was nominated for Best Direction and Best Sound and it won the award for Best Animation Program for the 2024 Leo Awards.
